How to Apply

The admission criteria of the University of Puerto Rico include the high school index and the Verbal Academic Aptitude Test and Mathematics of the revised PAA offered by the College Board , or the SAT.
Based on these, your General Application Rate (IGS) is determined, assigning a weight of 50% to each criterion (50% to the IE and 25% to each of the two aptitude tests of the College Board or the SAT I) .
Each academic program of the UPR establishes a Minimum Income Rate (IMI), which is the minimum required to be eligible to be admitted.
Once you know your IGS you will be able to explore the different academic programs you could qualify for.
In the portal upr.edu/admisiones you will find an online IGS Calculator and the IMIs of the academic programs during the admission of the previous year. Although they can vary each year depending on the demand and the spaces available (quota), they will serve as a reference to analyze your possibilities of admission according to your IGS. To calculate the IGS, you will need your high school index and the results of your Verbal and Mathematical Aptitude tests.
If you do not have access to the Internet from your home, contact your school's Professional Counselor or visit the Admissions Office of the UPR unit closest to your residence to help you in that process.
Some programs at the Río Piedras Campus have additional admission requirements. If you are interested in studying Fine Arts-Plastic Arts, Natural Sciences or Education with concentration in Science and Mathematics, contact the faculty of your interest to know the specific requirements. In some cases an exam is required and in others courses of immersion in Mathematics are offered prior to the start of university studies.
